I normally struggle applying false eyelashes, and I currently have over 6 mascara’s in my make-up bag – trying to achieve a ‘longer-lash-look’.
A friend of mine has an aunt who is a make-up artist for ITV (UK channel), and revealed that daytime hosts are major fans of eyelash extensions as it means the eyelashes are more natural in HD compared to false eyelashes.
I did a bit of research, went to a consultation and was happy to go ahead and lose my eyelash extension virginity!
I forgot to take a ‘before’ picture, so have cropped recent selfies of myself so you can see what my natural lash looked like:
The salon I decided to go to was called The Nailhut, in Brentwood, Essex. I spoke to my technician who told me what the eyelash was made of, the glue she was using and also gave me an aftercare sheet and a spoolie brush to brush my eyelashes with afterwards.
I decided to have a classic set of extensions and it took about an hour to apply the extensions – although I can’t be 100% certain as I fell asleep during it! It’s so relaxing!
This is what the lashes looked like afterwards:
As you can see, the eyelashes are full – and I am so pleased with them!
My technician told me not to pick at any loose eyelashes as if I pull a false one off it could rip off my natural lash! I’ve heard horror stories where girls have lost their natural eyelashes due to this, so make sure this doesn’t happen to you!
This is the aftercare sheet I was given, and I make sure I follow all the guidance! It’s been two weeks since I had them done and my lashes still look full, although some have fallen out.. *
*I apologise about how crumpled this sheet is!
Overall, I was a bit dubious of paying money for eyelash extensions, but it was well worth the £35 I paid. It saves me time when I’m getting ready, and I have had countless compliments from strangers as well as family and friends!
I would warn people to make sure they attend a consultation beforehand – just so they trust the person carrying out the job!
Let me know what you think, and if you’d recommend anything 🙂
