Kinder chocolate cake

Anyone who knows me will probably laugh if I said I was baking a cake, and I have to be honest – even me making  this cake involved me asking for help from my mum and sisters.

How do they make baking look so easy on GBBO?!

Anyway, I decided to prove EVERYONE wrong – and I found a recipe I liked the look of and decided to give baking a go.

This is what the finished cake looked like on the recipe:

Who wouldn’t want to eat this. It’s cake. It’s chocolate. It’s got Kinder chocolate on it. YUM YUM.

What you’ll need to make the best tasting cake ever, is:

  • 5 eggs
  • 150g of sugar/brown sugar
  • 8cl of milk (about 1 tsp)
  • 90g of melted butter
  • 250g of flour
  • 1 tsp of baking powder
  • one pinch of salt
  • 200g of kinder chocolate
  • 1 bar of kinder chocolate free
  • any other chocolate you fancy to decorate the top

Before you start your mixture, preheat the oven to 180 degrees if fan assisted, and pre-grease your cake tin/s.

It wouldn’t be me if a technical hitch hadn’t have happened.
The technical hitch being, I decided to read a magazine instead of checking the time – and it was only when my mum came into the kitchen and smelt burning did she realise I forgot I was supposed to be the next Mary Berry. 😦

But I still think my cakes looked cute – even if they were bitesize.

I gave them to my family after our Sunday Roast and everyone said how delicious they are.

I guarantee you chocolate junkies will love this – and I’m secretly so proud of myself as they are really tasty and not dry like I was worried about!

You don’t have to use the different coloured mixtures to create a pattern before you bake – but the results of doing so are this:

As you can sort of see, the cakes have a circle of chocolate mixture running through them. I think this look quite interesting – and having seen what the actual cake would’ve looked like I am so disappointed I burnt it!

I mean look how cool that looks!

I’m going to give this another go – and I’ll upload a picture onto my Instagram page so you can all see if it turns out like this!

This isn’t a post I’d normally make, but I’m all for going outside your comfort zones.

Let me know of any recipes I can try (but please not too difficult), and if you’ve attempted to make this cake I’d love to see pictures!
